Volume Two - Sri Lanka

This photo was taken for a post-tsunami recovery project based in Madampagama on the south west coast of Sri Lanka. The project is a joint effort between The Sustainable Trust in the UK and The Centre for Environment and Development in Sri Lanka. For more details on this project click here.

This man ran the village shop. Although not really relevant to the Recover Project, I have a fascination with the colour and contents of these shops so couldn't resist a quick shot. Here I wanted to frame the shopkeeper with the items in the shop; the hanging sachets of soap powder above and the scales, an important aspect of Sri Lankan shops, in the foreground. I also really liked the slight glint of sweat on this wonderful rounded chest and belly!
