This photo was taken for a post-tsunami recovery project based in Madampagama on the south west coast of Sri Lanka. The project is a joint effort between The Sustainable Trust in the UK and The Centre for Environment and Development in Sri Lanka. For more details on this project click here.

The children in the village seemed more than happy to be photographed which makes things a little easier for me. I saw this pile of coconut coir rope in the entranceway to this house and wanted to include it somehow. On approaching the house I also noticed it had beautiful arches around the porch. As I seemed to have an entourage of village children following me curiously about, I asked one of them to stand in the archway to complete the shot. I loved the way he naturally posed with his hands.
