Manhattan Beach is a collection of glamorous seafront properties preened and gleaned to pristine perfection. Some gardens even have artificial grass in case one blade should dare to grow taller than the next. When you are not used to seeing such perfection in the landscape it is actually a novelty. Then after a while you start to bore of it and start searching out the imperfections just to make sure you have not become unknowingly trapped in a movie set. Just back from the seafront, there it was; a weed growing from a gap in the pavement against the backdrop of a slightly tarnished fence. To me it was naturally beautiful.
