Volume Three - California and Alaska

All around this area of Alaska you see bare tree stubs like this. They are not leafless just because of the season; after all it was actually springtime when I took this shot. They are in fact dead, their roots victims of past earthquakes, of which there are plenty in Alaska. They still stand as a memorial of how fragile the earth can be.
