Volume Three - Portugal

This flower was lying on this pathway when I approached. It had obviously been picked and then discarded, awaiting to be trodden on or dried out in the increasing heat. I thought it was quite sad that it had been plucked so prematurely from its life source and then discarded so easily but I could still see its beauty and wanted to capture that permanently. Somehow the very background it had been discarded on lent it an extra element of beauty.
