This young pelican was just sat at the end of a pier. I was concerned at first, not really knowing what pelican behaviour involved and whether it was unusual for it to be sat quite so much in the open. However, there were plenty of locals around who didn’t see it as being unusual in the least so I thought it best not to interfere. This was the closest I had been to a pelican, although I took care not to get too close as to disturb it, especially as it was alert enough to watch my every move with its beady little eyes.
