I don’t really know that much about pelicans and this was more than demonstrated by my surprise at the variety of colour they display. This one had really gone to town with its make-up, even down to the red lipstick on the ends of its huge bill. I was also amazed at how well they managed to wield their huge bills around when preening. Imagine trying to wash behind your ears with a pair of heavy chopsticks.
