| I’d wanted the road to myself this morning so I left at 5am, concentrated on the four-hour journey ahead. My concentration lapsed as the sun rose in pink, yellow, red and orange hues, ever changing as it sucked at the mist that clung to the ground. I pulled off the road and leaned over a gate to watch a while. My thoughts turned from the joy and anticipation of another bright beautiful day to the land beside the A30. It will soon be buried under the concrete of a new bypass, it’s sunrises ignored forever in the rush of the journey from A to B. |
