| This was a jagged,
spiky place where the dusty wind blew real tumbleweeds around between the
faded wooden houses. Scenes from westerns played in my mind as I gingerly
stepped through scrub that held the promise of rattlesnakes and past houses
where imagined ghosts peered from dark, musty rooms. |
